The Web Wiz Project
Project Goals
1. Enhanced educational quality via network delivery of interactive resources, including:
- a core, WWW-based interactive syllabus, detailing course topics and assignments;
- integrated multimedia graphs, illustrations, and audiovisual examples;
- integrated email for easy student-faculty and student-student collaboration;
- module for lecture review, expanded concepts, and exam preparation;
- module for text review, guided study, interactive learning and exam preparation;
- module for direct, "one click" access to relevant library resources;
- module for easy access to campus support services (advising, career services, etc.);
- module for faculty-guided introduction to use of WWW links and resources;
- module for stimulation of class interaction and collaborative class projects.
2. Optimized student learning and increased information technology competence, via:
- interactive PSY-ETR resources which promote active learning;
- enhanced and individualized exploration of course materials;
- inclusion of resources that expand awareness of diversity and international issues;
- increased student-faculty interaction on course content and projects;
- experience with up-to-date materials and information technology;
- mastery of tools necessary for use of WWW and Internet resources;
- reduction of anxieties related to computers and technology;
- readily-available course materials, with low-cost or no-cost access;
- integrated mechanisms for quick and easy student feedback and evaluation.
3. Faculty collaboration, training in technology and greater productivity, via:
- shared resources and learning-oriented links between courses and faculty;
- refinement of PSY-ETR templates for use by any faculty with WWW-access;
- research and evaluation of new educational methods based on PSY-ETR system.
