MAP QUIZZES

The mid-term map quiz tests the knowledge you have developed on the maps 1,2, and 3 on the homework assignments and how well you integrate that knowledge with what you have learned in the subject matter of the course.

For the mid-term map quiz you will need to download 1) Europe in 1914, 2) Europe after World War I and one outline map of the World which you will need to purchase from El Corral.

Examples of the type of questions that would appear on the mid-term map quiz would be to locate and name colonies for some of the colonial powers whose empires you were required illustrate on Map Assignment I. (Learn at least 2 or three of the names of the colonies of all of the colonial powers you identified on Map 1.) Another type of question might be: "In 1914, The Estonians, Latvians and Lituanians lived along the 1)__________ Sea within the borders of the 2)_____________ Empire." or "The Croats and Slovenes who, before World War I had lived in the 3)_____________ Empire joined together with their South Slavs, the Serbs, in the new state of 4)________________ along the eastern shore of the 5)_____________ Sea. The only Asian country to engage in imperialism was 6) ___________ which established a colony in 7)_____________

You might also be asked to list a few colonies of the various imperialistic powers and identify where the were and the bodies of water on which they were located.

In the blanks, you will only be asked for items you identified on one of the first three map assignments. You will not need to draw in the borders of the countries identified, simply put the number reasonably close to the country or body of water on the appropriate outline map.

The Final map quiz will be similar, but based on the map assignments completed since the mid-term. (25 points). Bring the following Exam Maps: The Middle East between the Wars, Europe in the Age of the Cold War and Post-Cold-War Europe .
