Syria (including Lebanon) was assigned to France as a Class A Mandates by the League of Nations, 25. April 1920.
Iraq and Trans-Jordan were assigned to Great Britain as Class A Mandates by the League of Nations, 25. April 1920. In 1922 Great Britain set aside the territory west of the Jordan River as the territory in which the Balfour Declaration would apply.
