This is one of the dumbest terms to describe some very negative symptoms of schizophrenia. The Web Wizard was hoping to see something along the lines of the possible relationship between creativity and psychoses. But, noooo, it is a list of some of the most distressing symptoms.

"Positive and Negative Symptoms"Positive Symptoms = Unwanted Additional Symptoms Normal Behavior ----------------------> = Normal Abilities Negative Symptoms = Loss of Normal Abilities
So as a recap of what is meant by "positive", these symptoms are an exaggeration or distortion of normal thinking processes and behavior. Perhaps it would have made sense to first describe "Negative" symptoms which means a loss of normal abilities. Losing motivation, social contact, emotion, etc. certainly can be seen as a loss in normal functioning.
